Frogs and Snails

IT'S A BOY!

14 Weeks

Had an appointment today that was absolutely amazing. This was the first time at our new practice, and the staff was great- the doctor we met with was very nice, and seems like she'll be very supportive of our plans for a natural, intervention-free birth.

We had our first ultrasound since 8 weeks, and it is AMAZING how much this baby has grown! It was moving all over, waving and kicking... We saw fingers and toes and the spine, and heard a strong heartbeat...

It's so crazy to think about the little life inside of me. It almost didn't seem real before, since I've been feeling so good (mostly- amazing how quickly I forget about the nausea and heartburn, but those only lasted a few weeks!) and I don't look pregnant- I've only gained 3 or 4 pounds, and don't have much of a belly yet.

I keep telling Chris we only have 26 more weekends before we become parents... and with his schedule, only 13 together! Makes it seem so much shorter. Good thing we plan to make the most of the time :)

1 Down

Bye-bye, first trimester!

You were kind to me, and I'll never forget you, but it's time to move on...

Baby is PEACH-sized this week! I didn't believe people when they said this would fly, but I'm starting to see what they mean!

12 Weeks

I'm 1/3 of the way to full-term!

Still wearing my regular jeans, which I guess is good news! They say I'll be getting my energy back now... I'm waiting.

Had a snow day today, and will have another tomorrow. Good thing, since Chris is on duty and I'm not about to shovel my car out of the snow!

Cleaning, baking, and hanging with the kitties... I'm letting myself be lazy. I did a little online shopping, too.

Off to bed now... Going to get a good night's sleep so I can be more productive tomorrow!

2010 is going to be AMAZING!

Wow. A lot has happened since July! I swear I'm going to be better at keeping up with this.

We got another kitten, our third and final one. He's the sweetest, most loving cat in the world, and somewhat special needs. His cerebellar hypoplasia makes him walk funny and lose his balance, but he's not sick or in pain, and it's not a degenerative condition. He's brought a lot of joy to the house.

We're both loving the Coast Guard life... We're so lucky to have made good friends. It makes the whole living-in-Jersey thing tolerable :)

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary, and marked a year living on Sandy Hook.

And then I went ahead and drank the Sandy Hook water...

We're having a baby!

I'm almost 12 weeks pregnant, and the baby's due August 24, 2010... On a full moon, we've just found out.

We're beyond thrilled and just focusing on enjoying the whole journey... August still seems so far away! I've been so fortunate- I had a few weeks of nausea, but that's passed, and I'm sleepy all the time, but other than that I feel great! It's so cozy being pregnant during the winter.

I always pictured myself totally pigging out during pregnancy, but this baby seems to be healthier than his mama... The only major cravings I've had have been orange juice and tomato (sun-dried, on pizza, sauce, and ketchup!).

Now that we have something so exciting going on, I'll be updating here quite a bit! For now, I'm off to do some baking and enjoy a lazy snow day... Chris is on duty this weekend, so I'll be watching the Superbowl alone, unless I decide to venture through the snow to the Community Center.
